A Cockney Rosebud: A bittersweet journey in the midst of the life and community of an East End of London family (circa 1920 – 1960)

About A Cockney Rosebud: A bittersweet journey in the midst of the life and community of an East End of London family (circa 1920 – 1960)

Enchanting Rosie is born post-World War 1—1920—but into what? Those few (male) breadwinners who returned from the bloody combat would find the East End of London Docklands, ravaged, with little hope of regular work—if they could work, with life-changing injuries and psychological trauma.

The women remained strong, but in quiet despair. Families and communities supported each other, with their futures in question. Mothers reigned supreme, but alcohol and the public houses exerted their influence. Rosie might have changed the world. With talent, unfailing family and community bonds, and strong matriarchal role models, she had a chance. But the family was dysfunctional, and bonds break as families are distanced and communities scattered, and her time to bloom fades—with World War 2—into the war-torn earth.

Journey with Rosie’s memoir, through her childhood and formative years—1920s/1930s/1940s—as she captures her eternal memories, and I share them in this biography. Share her grief as her close family, home, possessions and history are wiped out, faith is tested to breaking point, and her dreams and ambitions are torn from her soul. But, also, wallow in the nostalgia of days past. Times without the internet and mobile phones. Times when children played in abandonment—and in the fresh air. Explore the social history of bygone days, of knitting, talking, cooking and wearing hats—and the lives of the proud East Enders. And rejoice that Rosie makes it through.

Transmuting Trauma: The Therapist’s Story

About Transmuting Trauma: The Therapist’s Story

My book connects to my work as a therapist and my own traumatic upbringing. I realized just how much my childhood trauma dictated what my adult life consisted of. I identified a cycle that I desired to change and I did that. Once I did that for myself, I wanted to share my story with the world.

This book provides insight to my life as a child and into my adult years. It provides a very detailed description of my experiences from childhood sexual abuse to toxic relationships that I’ve experienced as a result. Many of us have had traumatic upbringings and as a result, we may lead unfulfilling lives without having any understanding of how our past traumas may have influenced this. I lived many years of my life repeating a cycle I had no idea I was in. I had no insight to how my childhood trauma was the foundation to my experiences. I encountered many hurtful relationships and often blamed others for my experience. What I realized was I was the one who was responsible for the cycle I was in, and I will share in this book how I came to understand and overcome that.

Rather than allowing my trauma to hold me back, I made the decision to heal and see things from a more positive perspective. I realized my power and used my trauma to ignite me in the direction of prosperity and to influence and motivate me to help others who feel as if there is no hope.

I have chosen to be vulnerable enough to share my story with the world in hopes that it will reach and inspire individuals all over to pursue their own healing.

Bonus Chapter: In this chapter, you will get to review many of my diary entries from my personal diary and witness the emotional roller coaster I rode as I started to heal. You will also get to see how my perspective shifted over the passing months as I got deeper into my healing and started to make remarkable progress. I’m positive that my diary entries will help you gain a new perspective and you will be able to adopt tips to assist you on your own healing journey.

HOME AT THE EDGE by Ronald Schulz

About HOME AT THE EDGE by Ronald Schulz

HOME AT THE EDGE takes you from jail to the madhouse, an on-the-road and in-the-streets memoir of free-loving, acid-dropping radical youth in 1969, that still resonates today. We last saw 17-year-old Ron lying handcuffed over the hood of a car in “Chicago Rage.” We pick up with him entering Chicago’s Cook County Jail, where he and his radical companions are kept segregated from the other prisoners to prevent them from–god forbid–being a bad influence on murders and rapists. He is bailed out only to be admitted to a mental hospital where he bonds with other disaffected youth, fellow ‘freaks’ grappling with their identity and struggling against the status quo. The attempted and successful suicides of his companions and would-be lovers haunt him. He must confront his inner and outer demons and, as he turns 18, the looming military draft, which threatens to toss his whole generation into an immoral war.
His would-be love affairs are thwarted by a shadowy administration. Only Sue, desiring to get pregnant and have a child to avoid being sent to a convent can share a hurried wild love before she is locked away. While his options are bleak, he must not lose faith and rebuild his life on the outside.

Different Prisons by Dr. Thomas Davison

Different Prisons by Dr. Thomas Davison

Join the author as he takes you on an extraordinary journey into his intense world, teaching convicted felons inside two all-male state prisons in northern Ohio. The story Different Prisons is a collection of short stories, poetry, and anecdotes taken directly from the personal journals and unique experiences of Dr. Thomas Davison. This is real-life stuff, not the ‘Hollywood version.’ It will make you laugh, and it will make you cry …

What do the readers have to say about Different Prisons?

A Journey You Never Expected to Take, But Will Cherish
I have loved this story so much. It will make you laugh cheer and cry. And what is so special is that you will meet and fall in love with the author along the way. I confess I have never spent much time thinking about the lives of prisoners, or caring either, but this story opens up that world and despite yourself you will care in a way you never have before. It’s rare, I think, that a book or story teaches you so much, including about yourself. Highly recommended. A must read.
I Truly Love This Story
I like watching movies about what life is like inside of prisons. But, I realize Hollywood tends to exaggerate things to make a film more exciting. So, I decided to try this non-fiction Vella written by a guy who teaches felons inside prisons. I love this story! It is so real. He gives the reader insight into the day-to-day life of a prisoner. I give this story my highest rating and recommend you try it, you will be hooked!
Fresh and New
This is the most honest look at life on the inside of a prison I have seen. The accounts are real, and so raw. They are honest and allow you to feel everything the author and his students feel. A story filled with insights into somewhere most of us will never go. Well worth your time and a gripping read.
A Story That Enlightens You
I’ve become enlightened by the stories of those who are/were incarcerated for whatever reason. I’m inspired by those who chose to better themselves while serving the sentence they been given. Yes, I believe most everything is a choice. A choice to do what is right, a choice to take the higher path, a choice to believe the best of others. Doctor D’s experiences show what society may say is irredeemable truly is if one only provides guidance to the light.
A Powerful and Deeply Moving Story
It’s wonderful how you created Writing and Reading Clubs inside the Prisons where you worked.Bravo! Doctor D. You offer so much interesting insight into prison life. I respect what you do so much. What a great story and Journey this is.I agree that respect is the core of so many things in life. I can only imagine how important respect must be for the convicted felons. I love your addition of prison-themed poems. They are so raw and moving. I know exactly what you mean when you talk about different kinds of prisons. I have imprisoned myself with negativity. Your ability to struggle through to reach these men is inspiring to read. How lucky those guys in prison are to have someone like you to teach and guide them. If one man finds a new life after prison because of what he learned from you, then that one man is reward enough for anyone. Your heart for education and service is crystal clear and what you have to share is so appreciated.I have learned so much about the life of inmates. Thank you for sharing this amazing story!

Chicago Rage by Ronald Schulz

About Chicago Rage by Ronald Schulz

Free Love, Drugs, Riots, and it’s all true! 1969 was a time of turmoil in US history as seen through the eyes of seventeen-year-old Ron, a high school dropout, exploring the emerging Counterculture after the assassination of Martin Luther King. It is a five-part memoir that takes you from Chicago’s underground culture to the streets of New York’s Greenwich Village, his recollection of the riots and his first interracial romance with Bonnie inviting him into the M-fer radical collective and his rejection as an outsider by the group, it speaks of the loves and losses, trials we all face, even today. And then Karen entered his life – a young run-a-way with an attitude as wild as his own and she shared his ambition to tear down Pig City.

From freedom to jail, Ron must re-evaluate his life’s direction and look at the world in a wider scope. His story may shock you, but it will also inspire you to face your life challenges with bold humor on your own terms.

Take an amazing journey through the memory of a man from another generation as he struggled to find his position in life–as most of the world is doing today.

This work is the first part of a series of memoirs detailing life-altering events, from the 1960s riots, arrests, jail, and time in the Madhouse. Soon to be published in the series are books that will follow his journey from organizing revolutionary groups to setting up communes in Wisconsin, then hitchhiking across Europe and Africa on a roundabout Buddhist pilgrimage to Nepal. Ronald’s books explore the gritty wilder side of life and romance that most people shrink from. Available on Amazon and elsewhere!

TWA Flight 800 First Responder Witness Account

About TWA Flight 800 First Responder Witness Account

This is the only book on the market that was written by someone who was actually at the scene of the rescue of the crash of TWA Flight 800 on July 17th, 1996.

Never before released witness account of the events that unfolded on the night of July 17th, 1996. Barry Donadio was a 25-year-old emergency medical technician that responded to the TWA Flight 800 crash.

The interesting twist is that Barry Donadio was also employed as a security police officer at the same military base that some circles blame for shooting down the plane (The 106th Rescue Wing at Gabreski ANG base, Westhampton Beach, NY). He later became a USAF security police investigator and a SWAT team leader at that same base.

He was later employed by the United States Secret Service under the Bush and Obama administrations at the white house.

This account offers a look inside the Coast Guard station at East Moriches as rescue operation that began to unfold on the evening of the crash. The Coast Guard station was where the victims of the TWA Flight 800 crash were brought that evening.

Donadio’s book may offer some clues that may support your opinion as to what may have truly happened to the plane and why it may have crashed.

NOTE: Donadio offers no theories, suggestions, or conclusions referring to why the plane crashed in this book. He only describes what he observed at the during rescue operations. Disturbing descriptions of some of the victim’s fates are included in the account as well as other interesting anomalies that were observed on that evening.

NOTE: This contents of this book pertaining to TWA Flight 800 were originally written as a witness statement. It was never designed to be written as a book. The first few chapters are about Donadio’s firefighting and ambulance experiences leading up to the tragedy. Middle chapters are about the night of the crash. Final chapters are about experiences after the TWA crash. If you are seeking the reason for the crash, you will not find it in this book. If you are seeking knowledge on what Barry Donadio observed and experienced during the initial response to the crash and the night of the rescue operations, then you will find it in this book. You may also use these clues to piece together an overall conclusion as to why the crash happened.

NOTE: When one writes about an emotional charged global mystery, the author assumes many unwanted risks, criticisms, and responsibilities that are life changing for the author. Donadio did this for readers to know what happened that evening. Donadio has always remained a fair and impartial witness to the events of July 17th, 1996. This is due to the fact that he may be called as a witness for any potential investigation or inquiry into the facts surrounding the incident.

This book is not for persons under the age of 18 years old. In this book, Donadio shares many other experiences he faced as a firefighter years before and after the crash. This is also a great book to read if you are interested in what firefighters and EMT’s respond to on a daily basis.

Mimsy Cum Laude by Don Blossom

mimsyDon Blossom’s book Mimsy is a beautiful memoir of a man who fell in love with a beautiful intelligent and intriguing girl in his early college years, Mimsy. It is a relationship that formed him like ones do at that age. This new love and connection with Mimsy is profoundly important to him and to her and it influences who he was and how he is today.

So profound their connection that after they literally lose one another, the memory of her stays with him his entire life. Don, currently has a beautiful wife, career and family but throughout his life he wondered and wandered through his historical memories to find answers to what and who this young love of his became. She was a strong influence for Don and yet because of circumstances and life opportunities they missed a connection that would forever change the trajectory of their lives. They both missed or misunderstood a meeting that if it had happened would they have a different life today and would that life have been together? They didn’t meet and they never saw one another again It is a heartbreaking story because it is so real and palatable when Don recounts his loss. It is a love story of heartbreak but also a life story of mishap and miscommunication that changed everything for the two of them.
