About Children of Dust by Mary Hallberg
A camping trip. A weekend in the woods. And a clan of the bloodthirsty undead.
16-year-old Tinleigh Brown just wants a fun weekend camping with her friends. When they arrive at the remote campground, she’s reacquainted with Simon, the charming son of the campground’s co-owner — and he’s changed a lot since seventh grade.
When Simon and his sister, Beth, shares a chilling local legend with the group, Tinleigh and her friends laugh it off. The woods are rumored to be haunted by the Children of Dust, century old vampires who sneak into trailers at night to drink the blood of campers. Nobody believes in vampires anymore, or so Tinleigh believes — but the siblings are strangely upset about the stories they believe hurt their business.
Then Tinleigh hears rustling in the woods, has dreams about summoning corpses and wakes up with strange puncture marks on her neck. Simon and Beth insist they’re just bug bites, but something doesn’t feel right. Have their stories made Tinleigh paranoid? Or are these woods really haunted by the undead? And, if the Children are real…have they been right under her nose the entire time?
Equal parts suspenseful and romantic, Children of Dust is a young adult horror book that will satisfy fans of Anne Rice and Stephenie Meyer alike.
