My BIO…
Ms. Vasquez is dedicated to Women trying to find a purpose in life. She wants to leave a legacy to other women so that they can benefit from her struggles. She is dedicated to her Country, her family and those who made it a challenge, as well as the many strangers who wonder how life is in the USA for multi-cultural families.
Ms. Vasquez believes Life is a gift. Many times, she has wondered if she had a purpose. After she retired and remembered events or encounters throughout her lifetime, she realized she had been touched by and had touched many lives with positive outcomes.
These are her memories that she has shared with you. She hopes you realize that life is a wonderful challenge, worthy of being emulated or used as an example of what not to do. She wants you to enjoy her story, learn from her mistakes and see her victories as lessons.
Concepción Carolina Vásquez is the only daughter of a valiant woman from an area of the US that borders with Mexico. She likes to think of herself as binational.
She emerged from a fusion of immigrants of Mexico, Spain, Scandinavia and natives from the present USA. Her religion is Catholic and God has always played a very important role in her life.
Ms. Vasquez grew up loving both countries: The USA, where she was born, and Mexico, where she grew up. She was taught from childhood to love the USA, honor its values, be a productive member of the community and always be proud and honored about her heritage. She was taught the history of both countries and both languages, as well as the customs of each. She was taught to never put one above the other, and to always be an American.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My book, a memoir, is titled “My Diamond In The Desert.” My mother was my inspiration for it. I was inspired when my mom passed away earlier this year and I started reminiscing about her life and realized the tremendous contribution that she had made in supporting, and encouraging education and giving me values about how to live my life in honor of my heritage and country.
I realized that just as she had inspired me, I could inspire other women to not give up, prepare themselves, and be active and productive members of our society, country, and the world.
