About Doubt On Trial: An Agnostic Minister’s Case For Questioning The Bible by Rusty Williams
Have you ever questioned, or doubted, what you’ve read in the Bible?
Start off your summer reading with a Best-Seller! Doubt On Trial, an Amazon #1 New Release and now a Best-Seller, discusses topics that are taught in seminaries around the world, but rarely mentioned in church.
“…a compelling and absolute must-read book that will challenge
your way of thinking about what you believe.”
Doubt On Trial sheds light on the dangers of taking the Bible literally.
Most, if not all, people were taught to read the Bible with an apologetic understanding and from a devotional point of view. But, when the New Testament is read from a historical perspective and with a critical eye, Jesus’ teachings and ministry are experienced in a whole new way.
“… an intelligent, open-minded, and creatively written analysis of Christianity,
the Bible, and the future of both amongst coming generations.”
The Church is on the decline.
Doubt On Trial will make you consider things you haven’t been made aware of; discrepancies, contradictions, and problematic passages are right there in the open. But instead of forcing you to sit through another boring lecture where facts are thrown at you, author Rusty Williams presents a hypothetical trial where Doubt is on trial for causing the decades-long decline of the Church.
“… Williams carefully reviews the major religious issues thinking
people grapple with in the twenty-first century.”
Welcome to the trial of Doubt.
This book is a transcript of Doubt’s testimony and you, the reader, are asked to be the jury. You’ll hear for yourself why Doubt believes the Church needs to look at its practices and teachings or risk becoming an irrelevant institution… which is the last thing Doubt wants.
“…a lot of Christians are internally in the same place as Rusty,
but haven’t given themselves permission to admit it.”
Is Doubt to blame for the Church’s decline?
What will your verdict be when you finish the last page? Will you acquit Doubt or will you find Doubt guilty? Will you allow yourself to experience a new understanding of Holy Scripture? There’s only one way to find out.

Rusty is the author of two previous books, Can I get There From Here: One Cop’s Irreverent Look at Faith, and, Pee, Poop, Heartache, and Love: Life Lessons Learned From Fostering Shelter Dogs. Rusty was ordained into the Christian Ministry in 2008, and holds a Master of Divinity degree in Pastoral Counseling and a Doctor of Ministry degree in Church Development. A former youth minister, Rusty was diagnosed in 2009 with a rare disease (a spinal cord tumor) that has left him disabled. He now devotes his time to healing both his mind and body. Through the practice of self-hypnosis and mindfulness, he is able to work through many of the debilitating effects of the disease.
Rusty has spent his entire adult life helping others. Before starting a 25-year career as a highly-decorated police officer (retiring as a detective), Rusty became the youngest paramedic to be certified in his state when he was accepted into that training program right out of high school. During his tenure in both professions, he was an instructor and board member for state organizations and presented workshops around the country. Now, as a clinical hypnotist, Rusty works with people to help them overcome challenges in their lives. He is an internationally known hypnosis instructor and former producer and host of a national weekly radio show on mindfulness and hypnosis.
Rusty considers himself to be the luckiest guy in the world: He is the father of two amazing young men – Matt and Corey, and the husband of a beautiful woman, Elissa, who deserves sainthood! Because of his disability, gravity and Rusty have a love-hate relationship; his children and wife have picked him up when he was down – both literally and figuratively – more times than he can count, and he is forever grateful they are in his life. He and Elissa love spending time with their two dogs and enjoying the possibilities waiting around every corner of this journey called life.
In 2014, Rusty and Elissa started the Barefoot Ministries to help others who are suffering, either physically or spiritually.
