Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Salutations! We’re E.M. Jeanmougin and Jay Wright
We’re an American/Canadian writing duo currently working together on our queer urban fantasy & paranormal romance series The Hunter and The Spider.
We share a love of books, movies, and monsters, especially vampires, and have been writing with one another for over a decade!
Right now we have four books available, with two more releasing in the next six months.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
#5, Wish You Were Here features Jasper Craig in our first (almost) single-perspective adventure is heavily influenced and inspired by the music of classic and alternative rock bands like Pink Floyd, Guns ‘N Roses, Led Zeppelin, The Rolling Stones, & Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers.
Thrust all at once into the strange, sun-drenched world of Elysium, Jasper struggles to master his grace and fit in amongst the Elysians, but plans are easier made than enacted, and the Fields are not without perils.
It is the closest thing we have ever written to High Fantasy.
What are you working on now?
We are currently working on our as-yet-unnamed 7th book in the Hunter and the Spider series.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Own what you do. When people ask what your job is, introduce yourself as an author and don’t be afraid to give people a business card, directing them to your website. You are your own best promoter. If you can afford it, consider buying a handful of author copies and giving them away, or donating them to a local library.
Online promotions can also be helpful and we’ve seen some traction from sites like Awesome Gang, Fussy Librarian, and Goodreads. If you are an author and haven’t claimed your Goodreads free profile, you should definitely do so.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Be willing to make friends with other writers and learn how to give and receive both positive and negative feedback.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Brevity is the source of wit.
What’s next for you as a writer?
We’re releasing The Hunter and The Spider #5 on December 21st, 2023. We will be releasing #6 Bad Romance on New Years’ Day, 2024. We’re also going to be working on creating shorts and other content for our website: www.hunterandspider.com
