Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I wrote three novels. Finding Cristina; Finding Cristina: a New Life; and Finding Cristina: Treasures on Earth. I spent her childhood in Rio de Janeiro. I have always been fascinated with words and that led me to study French, Spanish, English, and Italian. I worked in international trade shows in a multilingual capacity, and as a fashion model in Brazil, Italy, and the US. Before turning to fiction, some of my poetry was published, and I also won a library poetry contest. My love of history and knowledge of Rio de Janeiro and Brazil, decided the timeframe and setting of my first novel, FINDING CRISTINA.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Finding Cristina: Treasures on Earth. It is the third sequel of this series. Rio de Janeiro and Rio Grande do Sul (southernmost state) in Brazil were the inspiration for the novels. At the background of Treasures on Earth is the area where my father was born and I visited when I was a child–the south region of Brazil.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I do not make a schematic, or a rough profile of the books I write. I tried, but it doesn’t work for me; cancels my inspiration. I just write a scene as fast as it comes to my mind. I like poetry, so I bring it to the novels.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Despite not being the same gender, Jane Austen. The funny situations in my stories were inspired by the authors of the Golden Age of mystery fiction in England. That means, Agatha Christie, Margery Allingham, Dorothy L. Sayers, among many others.
What are you working on now?
I have three different stories on my mind and have not yet decided which to pick. All completely different eras and locations.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Difficult question, as I don’t own a website. I use Facebook, Instagram, X and Goodreads. Sites like Pretty-hot are also a great help.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Not one, but three: write, write, and write. Once you start, it will flow out of you!
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Don’t rest your elbows on the table while eating a meal!
What are you reading now?
The Leavenworth Case, by Anna Katherine Green (another favorite author).
What’s next for you as a writer?
Continue writing–which means, lots of research.
What is your favorite book of all time?
Boy, that’s a very, very difficult question. I’ve been reading A LOT since I was 14. Let’s see… any Tommy & Tuppence by Agatha Christie; Mansfield Park, by Jane Austen; any Jeeves and Wooster by P. G. Wodehouse; and any of the Dr. Thorndyke series by R. Austin Freeman.
