Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I’m a British expat now living in the beautiful Algarve, Portugal with my rescue dog, Lucky, and mum to an amazing (and grown up) daughter who has always been my inspiration for everything I’ve achieved in life.
As a child I was an avid reader, losing myself in the pages of books, and loved to write stories at school often rushing through my schoolwork to pull out my writing book.
Sadly, it took until my forties to finally write and publish my debit book, PMS Hell to PMS Harmony, after training as a health coach and specializing in women’s hormone health but you will most definitely be seeing more from me!
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My debut book, PMS Hell to PMS Harmony, was inspired by the monthly struggles us women have when it comes to our menstrual cycles.
There’s nothing worse than not understanding why we turn into a snarling beast once a month, and what’s worse is we’ve become conditioned to accept it as being a normal part of being a woman.
I wanted to educate and inspire women to regain control over their raging hormones so they don’t have to feel like their hormones are controlling them.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I wouldn’t say so, I’m so basic! I just need my laptop, a coffee and the dog is generally by my side.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
As a child I loved Roald Dahl and Enid Blyton books, losing myself in the fantasy worlds they created. As I grew older my reading gravitated towards Stephen King and Kelley Armstrong, who are still firm favorites.
What are you working on now?
I’m currently working on my next book, Stressed Out! Aimed to help women understand and combat stress in order to rebalance their hormones and achieve weight loss success. It’s a very interactive guide with self-work activities throughout, it’s due to release at the end of June and is available for preorder on Amazon.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I’m so newbie when it comes to book marketing, however Instagram has been my primary marketing tool up until now. Maybe ask me this one later!
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Don’t let fear stop you. I honestly wish I’d written and published more books soon as my passion for writing started wt such a young age.
We let our fear of judgement hold us back but my view is, what’s the worst thing that can happen? If you never give something a try, you’ll never know if it worked or not.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
If you believe you can, you will.
What are you reading now?
I’m currently reading books on marketing to help with my own skills … boring I know but a necessary evil! You’ll see I’m always learning … however, I’ve currently got about 300 books on my kindle I need to start to working through now I’ve got a new charger for it!
What’s next for you as a writer?
Stressed Out! is my current project that I’m just y, after that I’m planning to do a young adult non-fiction book to help girls understand their menstrual cycles and how to look after themselves during the different stages on their cycles.
What is your favorite book of all time?
Bitten by Kelley Armstrong – who wouldn’t want a Clay of their own!
