Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I’m Igor, a 21-year old from Croatia. I was serious reader when I was a kid and first started writing at age of 10 and I was writing something little then, but never finished any project I started😅. Life was pretty hard for me in highschool and I stopped writing and reading completely, and after 5 year of hiatus, I finally started again last year, this time more serious then ever to finish a book for first time. I wrote 3 short stories for now, and one short story and novel are currently in progress. “In love with a friend”, is my best finished one for now I think, and since that was my first time writing in English, I’m really happy of how I wrote it.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
As I said before, I’m currently writing one short story for a contest (Who is the thief) and one novel (After the rain comes the sun). ‘Who is the thief’ is my first mystery themed book and I’m really happy how writing is going so far, and ‘After the rain comes the sun’ is youth literature novel which was inspired by some things I experienced during highschool. The message I want to say with it is that even if sometimes it’s really hard and dark in life, it won’t be like that forever, cause after the rain always comes the sun.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I don’t think I have any unusual writing habits. I like to get comfy in bed when I write, I need complete silence to focus and immerse myself into world of fiction and I’m usually writing as long as inspiration is going that day 🙂
What authors, or books have influenced you?
I’m a big fan of Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings and J.K Rowlings’ Harry Potter. Aside of that I didn’t really read much of english authors, I read mostly Croatian books when I was a kid.
What are you working on now?
I’m working on short story ‘Who is the thief’ for Neovel’s Mystery Case Contest and on my main wip, novel ‘After the Rain Comes the Sun’.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
As lot of authors, I struggle a lot with promotion of my books so I don’t think I figured out what’s the best method😅, but I usually post on instagram and one writing app that’s called writco. On twitter too sometimes.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Read as much you can, and practice writing every day if it’s possible.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Fight for your dreams and don’t let fear stop you.
What are you reading now?
I’m currently reading a novel that my friend is writing on Neovel. It’s called ‘Kin of the world’. It’s pretty interesting fantasy story and if you have little time, definitely check it out 🙂
What’s next for you as a writer?
I plan to finish ‘After the rain comes the sun’ this year and then start with new writing project. I will probably participate in more writing contests too this year so hopefully I wil win some money so I can use it then for paid promotions and other things to improve my writing and game developing.
What is your favorite book of all time?
My favorite book of all time is one croatian book by Croatian writer Želimir Hercigonja. It’s called ‘Trn ljetne ljubavi’ (The Thorn of Summer Love)
