About Inspiration at Riverdale Terrace: Janine: Love Thy Neighbor
A story of hope and faith. When all seems lost, letting someone in might be the only way out.
Janine lost everything in an instant one spring night when her boyfriend was shot as they walked home from dinner. When he died, so did her dreams and aspirations.
Janine was a student of philosophy, studying absurdism ¬– the idea that the universe, and therefore life, has no purpose. David, who was religious, might eventually have cured her of this view, but that was not to be. With her beloved gone, Janine kept her hopeless beliefs, gave up school, and made her living as a waitress in a bar.
With low cleavage she was willing to use to get extra tips, she was getting by and doing fine. But when her co-worker Max becomes her neighbor at Riverdale Terrace, he starts to push her buttons. Together they notice that some children on their floor are being raised by an abusive parent. Max cannot stand by and let that happen. Can Janine?
In the light of Max’s friendship, will Janine again begin to acknowledge the part of herself that still wants to give love, and be loved? Will she abandon her cynicism and do the right thing, so God can begin to help her heal her wounds?
