Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I am a first time author. I have been writing seriously for about 8 years and finally decided to take the plunge and publish. S.T.E.AM.C.A.P.P is my first book. Book II Air Lords of the Adirondacks, will be published in 2020 and STEAMCAPP: Phantasmagoria, a short story will be released at halloween 2020.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Well, besides the STEAMCAPP series which I plan to continue to write I am working on a Fantasy Novel that at present will either be titled: Holy Ground, or Guardians of The Crimson Dove. It’s based off an online roleplaying Mud( game) that I played for awhile. i created this incredibly complex character who was a Cleric of the Light but a warrior and very zealous. She was either loved or hated by most of the player base, (LOL) and that can be Gold for a protagonist in a story.
My inspiration for writing is the enjoyment I had from classic adventure movies and stories. Im those stories the heroes sacrificed, and suffered. They certainly had flaws and made mistakes but they held true to their principles even if it meant they as an individual would suffer or have a harder row to till. The are the types of stories I enjoy and the type I attempt to write.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Not really. I’ll put on Classical music sometimes or “Fantasy elven” music from Youtube if I’m writing for Puma( Pumashukina, the main character in my Fantasy novel) but nothing strange or odd.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
I’m more influenced by games and movies, but Tom Clancy especially red Storm Rising, the Sherlock Holmes stories, Brent Weeks, I’m currently reading his stuff. Mark Hodder.
What are you working on now?
I’m currently putting the final touches on Air Lords of The Adirondacks
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I’m still working on that. Right now I’m in the KDP Select so my book is only available on Amazon
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Yes. Your’e going to hear a lot of “Writing Rules” but for the most part please take them as “writing suggestions”. You certainly have to listen and learn but I made the mistake of believing they were set in stone rules and it hindered my writing early on.
Secondly, it is essential you deal with criticism of your work positively. Don’t become arrogant and reject it but don’t let it crush you. Take what helps you from the critiques and keep on writing.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
I’ve heard a lot of it. if you want to get a treasure trove of life advice read the book of Proverbs. However, the following quote from Cyreno De Bergerac I really like:
“To sing, to laugh, to dream
To walk in my own way and be alone,
Free, with a voice that means manhood-to cock my hat
Where I choose-At a word, a Yes, a No,
To fight-or write.”
“The Older the Violin, the Sweeter the Music!” from Gus in Lonsome Dove is another favorite
What are you reading now?
Brent Weeks “Shadows” books
What’s next for you as a writer?
I’m hoping to get some traction from my first book, learn how to promote my books successfully, get Air Lords published and then its either another STEAMCAPP adventure or my Fantasy novel
What is your favorite book of all time?
Tom Clancy’s red Storm Rising
