Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I’m originally from Jamaica and have been in the healthcare field for over twenty years. This plus my short story, Elevated, are my first two books.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Danse Erotica is a result of my interaction with clients whose issues centered around sex. Some of the stories told in their recitement of their sexual experiences prompted me to write a fictional account of the more erotic encounters.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I write when I’m inspired. At any given time, a story might pop into my head. I will stop what I’m doing and write it down before I forget. My stories have been written under the influence of a good Cabernet Sauvignon.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
The authors I most like vary from Octavia Butler and Tananarive Due to Robert Ludlum and Ken Follet. They are not erotic authors, but I enjoy their books.
What are you working on now?
I’m working on a second book of erotic short stories. After that, who knows.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Being new at this, I haven’t created a website yet. I plan on obtaining social media accounts in the near future.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Just write. There are editors that can help you structure your story. But definitely obtain and editor. And once they are finished, reread for any additional corrections. Editors are not infallible.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Put your manuscript down and let it marinade for a month before reading it for the last time. This is the time you read it out loud.
What are you reading now?
Snake Walkers by J.Everett Prewitt.
What’s next for you as a writer?
Not sure. I know I have one more book in me and maybe a memoir. After that, it’s up in the air.
What is your favorite book of all time?
My Soul to Keep by Tananarive Due.
