Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I’m not sure how to answer this. Wrote two, published one of them so far.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Enlightenment of the Rogue Emperor. I had so much inspiration for this, I could be talking about it the whole day and still not even scratch the surface! But hey, to list a few:
One Piece – I love One Piece for it’s distinct location design and how the story progresses between them. Essentially, if you take a glance at a random OP episode, you can have a quite accurate guess where and when is this happening, just because they rarely come to a same location twice.
Discworld – for the scientific detail behind the worldbuilding.
Song of Ice and Fire / Game of Thrones series – was a case study to me rather than an inspiration.
Twilight saga – I tried to crack the code behind what made Edward such a compelling love interest.
Berserk – the dichotomy between protagonist and antagonist and how did we get there.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Not sure if this qualifies as an unusual habit, but my outline is quite overly detailed. I really do stress the natural flow and sound and rhythm of the dialogue above everything, so my outline can be quite vague in terms of story beats, but line by line, breath after breath, dialogue.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
I would say that Terry Pratchett has left the biggest footprint on me as a reader and also as an author. As I was devouring his books since very young age (albeit in Czech translation), he really did shape me in many ways.
What are you working on now?
I’m working on a third book from the RAD series. This time, I’m doing something completely different and I’ll be putting my protagonists into increasingly challenging situations in terms of their ethical conduct. I’ll leave the dilemma who to cheer to the reader.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I’m out on that one, and I guess I’ll spend the rest of my lifetime trying to find out.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
It really does feel like a relief to release the manuscript as a book. Your brain capacity is no longer occupied with these intrusive, anxiety-inducing thoughts like: “Maybe I should change this and that, maybe this could be said better…” It is done! Stop thinking about it! Work on something new!
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Hmm. Don’t write for the sake of cool things happening on the paper. Write for the person, who will read it.
What are you reading now?
Maybe a bit underwhelming, but currently I’m into indoor-gardening books.
What’s next for you as a writer?
Publish the RAD: Book2! The first draft is finished and it is called “Salvation of the Rogue Saint”
