Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Hi, my name is Jean-Philippe Ricau.
At an early age, I made two decisions that changed my life forever.
One was to become a dietician and the other was to leave my home country France and move to Cyprus.
Since then, I have been spending every day of my life helping and coaching people with their weight issues, teaching them nutrition basics and making them emotionally stronger.
My 25+ years of experience have shown great success stories, a few failures (let’s be honest), but mostly success.
I run 20 websites including www.myfrenchdietitian.com and have written 2 books, one with easy and healthy recipes and another one on nutrition and balanced-diet.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book is called “Lose weight without dieting: the new nutrition guide”.
This question brings me back to the time when I started as a dietitian and I owed the books written by other dieticians. I wanted to read about their experience and their opinions on everything related to food, in a simple and practical way (no smoky theories or draconian diet that lead nowhere).
Because I think I have gained enough experience in nutrition, I thought it would be good to share my knowledge and help people live a healthier life.
In light of the proliferation of nutrition-related content by individuals without any relevant expertise or credentials in the field, I decided to offer authentic and credible information, and help people live a healthier life.
In my books I try to describe the way we consume food nowadays and to show how it impacts negatively our health and weight. And I want to give realistic solutions to live a healthy lifestyle.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Is writing about nutrition at 3am normal?
What are you working on now?
I’m trying to promote my international blog www.myfrenchdietitian.com
Writing articles, doing SEO and web design take a huge amount of time.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
First my blog: https://www.myfrenchdietitian.com/
Then Facebook.
I also love our www.pretty-hot.com helps smaller writers like me to get nice exposure.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
You have something to say? Just put it on paper.
Only care about the style later.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
To cook my own food!
Cooking your own meals is healthier for you and better for weight loss.
Why?
Because you control the ingredients.
Because you control the portions.
Because you save money.
Because you can experiment with new flavors and recipes.
What are you reading now?
Some scientific studies about diabetes and intermittent fasting.
What’s next for you as a writer?
I want to continue working on blog articles to help readers with their health issues and promote nutrition.
I’m also planning to write a book about the balance-diet, talking about the method I’ve been using with my clients for 25 years.
What is your favorite book of all time?
Brigitte GIRAUD, Vivre vite (Flammarion)
