Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I’m a wife, mother, and grandmother. I have written over 30 books in different genres. I write interracial inspirational romance, YA romance, romantic fantasy, and children’s stories.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My newest book will be released on February 1st and is entitled, “Finding Imani.” It is about a woman who has been a victim of domestic violence for many years. Events happen that change her life and she finally begins to heal, finding her real self again along the way. Personally, I know abuse, having been raised in it as a child, and I witnessed many things. I hope that this story will help others who still carry the scars of abuse, in all its forms.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I’m a people watcher, and I constantly create stories in my head about complete strangers. Occasionally, some become characters in my books.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Some of my favorite authors are Amy Harmon, Francine Rivers, John Shors, and Richard Paul Evans. They are all fantastic writers, and their stories never fail to grab me and pull me into their world. There are many other authors I enjoy reading as well.
What are you working on now?
At the moment, I’m working on a few revisions of some short stories I’ve written over the past couple of years but never published. I hope to publish them in the future.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I mainly use social media in addition to my blog/website. There are a few bloggers I work with and they are great about promoting my books.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Write what you know and love, but don’t limit yourself. Researching helps us grow.
And you will never please everyone with your writing, so don’t try. Some readers will enjoy your work, some won’t, but that’s okay.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Don’t fixate on reviews, because, as I said, you won’t be able to please everyone.
What are you reading now?
“A Brambleberry Summer” by RaeAnne Thayne and “The Smallest Part” by Amy Harmon.
What’s next for you as a writer?
After I finish my revisions, I’m taking a break to focus solely on promoting “Finding Imani.”
What is your favorite book of all time?
There are too many to name, but two of my absolute favorites are “From Sand and Ash” and “Making Faces,” both by Amy Harmon. I also love “The Mark of the Lion Trilogy” by Francine Rivers.
