Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I am an author and a teacher. My first sweet, holiday romance was Homemakers’ Christmas, published by Melange Publishing. Tinsel and Tea Cakes is a sweet, holiday novella published by The Wild Rose Press.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
A Sour Note is the first book in The Music Box Mystery series. I am a longtime fan of cozy mysteries and am excited to launch this new series.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Story ideas and outlines are written in an old-school notebook. I return to the notebook countless times during every stage of the writing process. Something about having a pen in hand sparks my creativity.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Where to begin? I love Jane Austen, Maeve Binchy, Jennifer Weiner, Stephen King, Lisa See, Alice Hoffman, Nora Roberts, Barbara Taylor Bradford, Mary Higgins Clark, Carlene O’Connor, Judy Blume, Beverly Cleary, and Leo Tolstoy – to name a few. They and their books have all influenced me.
What are you working on now?
I am currently working on the next two installments in The Music Box series.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Do something every day. I’m a full-fledged introvert and struggle to put myself out there on social media. By increasing the frequency of my posts, marketing is becoming more routine and less daunting.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
From time to time, step away from your work in progress. Return with fresh eyes and insight as to where to take the story next.i

What are you reading now?
The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, by Suzanne Collins – hands down one of the best prequels I’ve ever read.
What’s next for you as a writer?
I’m hoping to have the second book in the series ready for formal editing by September.
What is your favorite book of all time?
A Woman of Substance by Barbara Taylor Bradford and Anna Karenina by Leo Tolstoy are in a solid tie for my favorite books of all time.
