Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I was born in Somerset and currently live in Cambridgeshire, UK. I’ve written one book.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My last book was called Æ (pronounced Ash). I’ve been obsessed with Íslendingasögur, the Icelandic sagas since I took a holiday on the island in 2018.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I find it helpful to listen to music whilst I write, but I find anything with lyrics in distracting. Whilst I can listen to Classical music for a while, I often want a change and end up scouring the internet for instrumental or karaoke versions of tracks I like.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
David Mitchell, Ian Banks, Donna Tartt, Robert Harris, Brett Easton-Ellis, Ben Elton, Douglas Adams to name but a few.
What are you working on now?
I’m working on a currently unnamed novel set in a town in the English Midlands.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I’m still very much a novice on this side of things.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
If you’ve managed to sit down and complete a novel just be proud of your achievement. Many people would like to write a book but haven’t had the perseverance to complete one.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Never try and bluff a question you can’t think of an answer for.
What are you reading now?
Currently re-reading Independent People by Halldór Laxness.
What’s next for you as a writer?
I’ll hopefully finish my second novel and then who knows!
What is your favorite book of all time?
Cloud Atlas by David Mitchell.
