Kelly Cook

Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I am married to my soul mate of nearly thirty years. He’s my everything.
I use the pen name of KC Savage for my novels and EB Taylor for my poetry.
I’ve written three books, but have only one about to be published on March 1. It is the first of the three in the series. I have a bunch on my mind as well. 🙂
I live in west central Florida. Enjoy going to the beach, the local casino, Las Vegas is my favorite vacation place. Can’t wait to go back!
I also crochet, make greeting cards, and build dollhouses.
No children or pets, it’s just me and my honey. 🙂

What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
The Encounter is the title of my taboo, reverse age gab, cheating romance. Inspiration for the book, well that’s a secret 🙂
I also have a poetry book published already, Shattered Before They Blossomed. It was inspired by a difficult personal experience I hope to never live through again.

Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I don’t have a set schedule. I write when it comes to me. If I’m not at my desk, I pop open my phone and jot down some words in my notes to remind me of my ideas.

What authors, or books have influenced you?
No heavy influences really. I like to read what I write and I love Stephen King novels.

What are you working on now?
Book 3 of my series, getting it ready for my editor later this year and awaiting the return of book 2 from my editor.
Putting together more poems for a second poetry book.

What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I use social media and have recently scheduled my book on several promotional websites. Since this is my first novel, not sure what is my best method.
I haven’t promoted my poetry book outside of social media.

Do you have any advice for new authors?
Keep writing, never stop.

What is the best advice you have ever heard?
I have a quote from a website, can’t remember which one, that I have posted by my desk that reads:
“Reminder For Writers
That story you’re writing? The one that feels genius one day, and like a failure the next? The one that sometimes makes you wonder if you’re skilled enough to tackle it?
That story cam to you for a reason.
No one can write it the way you can.”

What are you reading now?
Poetry books, to take a break from novels.

What’s next for you as a writer?
Book 2 in my series and a second poetry collection.

What is your favorite book of all time?
The Shining by Stephen King.
