Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I just released my debut novel after COVID-19 created an opportunity for me to finish one of my lifelong dreams of writing a novel. I am a married man with 3 children who lives in Central New York. I have a background in Psychology and have worked in the Human Services field for over 25 years. I love a good story, especially those with twists and turns. I’m also an amateur photographer. I play the guitar and I love to play golf.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book is called The Shelter and was inspired by an activity that I facilitate with teens called “The Bomb Shelter.” We put leadership students in a situation in which they have to choose who to place in a shelter to save their lives with only a short description. This gave me an idea about how that would play out in real life. However, the book took some interesting turns from that purpose.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Yes. I just start writing without any plan of where I am going. I have a very basic structure of where I want to go, but I let my writing take over in the moment. The Shelter changed course multiple times as I was writing.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
The authors that have inspired me over the last 3 decades are Stephen King, Dean Koontz, Harlan Coben, Caroline Kepnes, Karin Slaughter and Gillian Flynn.
What are you working on now?
My next book is called “In the Midst of Wolves.” It is a detective murder mystery that has religious overtones.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
So far Facebook has been my most successful method for promotion.
