Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
My name is Kyle Stück and I was born in the jungles of Ecuador. I now reside in the Ozarks and write a mixture of horror, sci-fi, fantasy, and Weird fiction. I have written two books so far: one a poetry collection and the other a horror comedy.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book is called “Evil Cast” and it was inspired a lot by Sam Raimi’s style. It’s a love letter to horror, its conventions, and its fans. Think Evil Dead meets Scooby Doo!
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I write a lot in the shower. My water bill is terrible. Please send help.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Brian Jacques’ Redwall series was a HUGE influence. Christopher Moore and Kurt Vonnegut are probably two of the smartest and funniest men I’ve ever read. Richard Matheson was a big influence too.
What are you working on now?
Right now I’m working on the second volume for Evil Cast, along with a couple fantasy comics all set in the same universe, all of which are in different genres. I’m very, very excited 😀
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I am a promotion noob, so at the moment I don’t know haha. Right now my personal relationship with other authors or reviewers has helped me the most; people have been extremely generous to me and I will forever be grateful.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
When things get hard or discouraging, remember why you’re writing and creating; hopefully, it’s because you love it. If not, why are you doing it?
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
You always have the “no” so why not go for the “yes”?
What are you reading now?
A collection titled “John the Balladeer” by Manly Wade Wellman + the newest edition of John Langan’s “Mr. Gaunt and Other Uneasy Encounters” + the late Peter Straub’s “Koko.” All are excellent!
What’s next for you as a writer?
That is an excellent and terrifying question. I work as a producer, so I’d love to move into writing full-time some day soon. Till then, I’ll keep writing as much as I can and chasing whatever opportunities present themselves. Fingers crossed!
What is your favorite book of all time?
If I say “The Catcher in the Rye” will people think I’m pretentious?
