Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I’ve always wants to be an author. I’ve got a few books out, mostly in low fantasy, and all with a touch of sweet romance.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Uncharted Stars. It was inspired by two very different television shows that both had terrible endings for the main characters.
I was so furious that I decided to write a story where they had a happy ending.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I tend to find myself moving sentences backward in the draft, like I’ve written my thoughts in the wrong order.
I also have an unorthodox writing style. Despite my best efforts at writing in Omniscient, I can’t seem to get away from what fellow authors describe as “head hopping,” wherein I reveal the innermost thoughts of the character speaking.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Louis L’Amour, Emilie Loring, so many favorite authors. Honestly, I’d have to say that every book I’ve ever read or tried to read has influenced me.
I want to be part of the fun of writing a good book for someone to enjoy.
What are you working on now?
A cozy mystery trilogy featuring a plus-sized amateur sleuth who finds out an old friend has been quietly in love with her for years.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Run a quick proofread before asking for beta readers, please. I’m not suggesting hiring an editor at that stage! Just run a Word proofread or a Grammarly or something to check for spelling, etc.
Also, it’s okay to write something you cut later. Sometimes the only way to get around, over, through, whatever, the ‘writer’s block’ is to write a ton of words you’ll never actually use.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
“Start writing, no matter what. The water does not flow until the faucet is turned on.” Louis L’Amour
What are you reading now?
Anne of Avonlea by L.M. Montgomery
What’s next for you as a writer?
Oh, goodness. There’s never a shortage of ideas, lol. If I survive writing this trilogy, I’ll probably make another try at finishing my fairy series.
What is your favorite book of all time?
Does anyone ever have a single answer for this one?! I love ‘The Blue Castle,’ by L.M. Montgomery; ‘Sackett’s Land,’ by Louis L’Amour; and ‘Starfighters of Adumar,’ by Aaron Allston.
