About Man of the House: A Memoir
“Man of the House: A Memoir” by Dr. Colm McAindriu shares his life and experience as a poor black kid living in Mississippi Delta during the Jim Crow years. After his father left them when he was three years old, his mother crowned him the Man of the House. His mother forced him to help her raise her other twelve children.
The discriminatory acts of white people against black people were also shared in this memoir writing. Growing up, he was told many things not to do with white people, such as not looking at the white girl that he liked.
Unlike any other kid, Dr. Colm has a bit of happiness and learning. Instead of playing like any other kid, he worked in cotton fields to earn money to support their family. This memoir writing is truly inspirational about not letting hardships stop you from becoming what you want to be.
