Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I currently live in Lynchburg, Virginia, with my wife and enjoy my job as a behavior technician. I’m the oldest of 5 siblings, and remain very close to my brother and sisters. Currently, I’ve written 7 books and have 3 more in the works!
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book is Shadow City: Haven’s Edge and is the 5th in the Shadow City series. Each book in the series has been inspired by works such as Star Wars, Blade Runner, and Cyberpunk, but this installment in particular was inspired by action-centered works such as The Raid: Redemption and John Wick.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I typically begin my stories writing backwards with the plot outline. I always like to start with the conclusion, or able to pinpoint a firm ending, and then build from it while constructing the characters.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Shane Peacock, S.D. Perry, and Timothy Zahn are some of my favorite authors and their works have made a strong impact on me. I’m not sure if this is reflected in my own writing style, but those three authors have written some of my absolute favorite books.
What are you working on now?
I’m currently working on the 6th part in the Shadow City series and a zombie epic titled As It Ends.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
My author central site is a good hub for my works, as well as my facebook page.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
A lot of people are going to tell you to quit, or you’re not going to feel the support from the people that you feel like you should. You have to believe in yourself and believe that you are crafting something special that someone out in the world will connect with and enjoy.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Worrying is like a rocking chair. It gives you something to do but it doesn’t get you anywhere. -Van Wilder
What are you reading now?
I’m actually on another round of reading Bram Stoker’s Dracula.
What’s next for you as a writer?
I’m taking things day by day, and just hoping that these books can catch and audience and continue to grow!
What is your favorite book of all time?
Eye of the Crow by Shane Peacock.
