Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Nina Whyle is made up of two writers. Nina & I (Clare) are co-authors, best friends and we have been writing together for a few years. We first started collaborating across the seas from Copenhagen to London, now we live in neighbouring villages in the UK!
‘From Dusty With Love,’ is our fifth book. We love to write and hope to do it full-time one day. That’s our shared dream. We have many more stories to tell and Dusty is the start of an exciting series.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
‘From Dusty With Love,’ is inspired by our love for action, intrigue, comedy, a slow burn romance and good old fashion ‘good versus evil’ – think Bridget Jones in a James Bond roll and all the fun you can have with that character. Female action heroines. We love the underestimated ‘calamity Jane’ coming into her own against everybody’s expectations, even their own family.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
Coloured pens by a notepad to the side of the computer incase of that urgent idea and the goldilocks of cushions on every chair.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Every author from English lessons when we were young until now has inspired us, from Dickens to the jazz age, good romance to sci-fi, the list is endless – Female writers from Austin to du Maurier especially. Comedy writers have our outmost admiration, we love Stephen Fry and Andy Hamilton.
What are you working on now?
We are working on Book 2 & 3 of the Duty Calls series, Dusty is just the first instalment!
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
We’re absolutely hopeless marketeers, but we keep up with social media and are now trying BookTok – for better or worse! We like actual bookworms and bloggers to read, review and help us on our way. They are far better with all the social media than we are!
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Just start writing, don’t hesitate, no one can read it until you finish the first draft, but be prepared for the work involved from idea to finished manuscript. It is a lengthy process. Get a good line editor, you will go word blind and you cannot see your own mistakes – no matter how grammar savvy you are.
