About Passage
Sailing solo to Panama, the author grapples with finding the link between taking ownership of one’s life and accepting fate. In this entrancing memoir, Guillaume deliberates life’s big questions while chasing horizons for the sake of it. He cleverly draws a parallel between the challenges of crossing oceans under sail and navigating the passage through life, drawing on the experience and philosophical gems of wisdom accumulated through a life well lived. The blatant honesty compels the reader to take part in the reflection and re-evaluate their own values.
There is nowhere to hide out there alone on the ocean; especially not from oneself.
Passage serves as a lantern to fellow travelers; those wrestling with the balance between means and meaning, those juggling the accountability of parenthood, and those struggling to look in the mirror. Seasoned with humor, it is hard hitting at times… but so is life.

Raised in the African desert, Guillaume’s passion has always been new horizons, experiencing cultures, and pondering the teachings of the greats, philosophers, and psychologists. Motorcycling alone through four dozen countries, more than a million kilometers in two and a half decades, only served to fuel the fire. Forever the nomad , he spent the last decade of his career as a management consultant, serving high-end auto retailers in twenty three countries. Enter the sailor. Passage is but the genesis, as Guillaume slowly sails his way back to Mauritius.
