About Prosperity in Adversity
Life is sweet, beautiful, and filled with laughter and joy, but also full of difficulties, adversities, and uncertainties that bring pain, sorrows, and tears, and so make life bitter and ugly. So the life of man is made of two opposites – prosperity and adversity, pleasure and pain, light and darkness, good and evil, and these succeed one another in the course of his journey through life.
A person can be healthy and full of life, and shortly after, the same person is diagnosed with a terminal illness that puts them in a state of hopelessness and depression, shattering their vision, plans, and goals. Someone can set up a promising business venture and one single disaster destroys it and dashes the person’s hopes.
In the year 2020, many people who made wonderful business or personal plans and looked forward to a future filled with beauty and hope had their plans thwarted by covid-19. Natural disasters such as earthquakes, tsunamis, floods, or hurricanes can destroy all that took a person several years of diligence, pain, and toil to build.
Someone can lose their job when they need it most for their survival. Someone can put their hope of survival in someone else, and lose them to sudden death. These are adversities that man experiences at one point or another as he makes the journey of life. These situations can be so buffeting and frustrating that no one ever desires to have the first experience of them, let alone a second experience.
Why does adversity happen? Is it an entirely unpleasant, ugly, and bad situation that man should not experience at all? Is there good, positivity, beauty, and hope in adversity? Are there lessons to learn from it? Can adversity be overcome and prosperity attained after it?
As negative and unpleasant as it may sound to your ears, adversity is a path to prosperity and victory. So long as you desire and work to achieve success, you will meet with adversity at one point or another as you tread the path to your goals and dreams. But you must ensure that the adversity you experience or will experience is not brought to you by yourself because of your greed, impudence, or misconduct.
Despite the anxiety and emotional tension it generates and the pain it brings with it, adversity does not always happen to kill, mar, weaken, break, disempower, stop, or destroy. If you form the habit of always looking beyond and beneath the surface to looking deeper into adversity, you will see the prosperity it points you to. If you form the habit of always looking beyond the negativity, anxiety, fear, and pain that adversity brings, you would find the message it brings with it, the lessons it teaches you, the direction it tends to lead you, and the beauty, meaning, knowledge, wisdom, insight, power, and hope that lies in it, and which it communicates to you.
I tell you a truth, no matter how knowledgeable, smart, careful, powerful, learned, educated, intelligent, prayerful, skilled, or wise you are, the path to your dream and success could at one point or another be paved with difficulties, tough times, adversity, obstacles, bumps, stumbling blocks, setbacks, disappointments, or failures that must first be dealt with and overcome if you must succeed. What will be your reaction, response, attitude, or action when you are faced with any of these certainties of life?
This book, Prosperity In Adversity critically and deeply examines adversity to identify its nature, the reason it happens, as well as the impact it has on one’s health, well-being, business, career, or vocational life. It teaches how we can discover the beauty, hope, and positive messages in adversity and the vicissitudes of life so that when we experience it, it will not mar or break us, but shape and make us; it will not make us bitter but better; it will not stop us but start us and eventually become a stepping stone to prosperity and victory.
