About Romance with Addiction: Causes and Warning Signs of Alcoholism, and Help in Overcoming It
There is no drinking calendar. A person suffering from an addiction sees time as an endless day devoted to a single object of desire — alcohol. Such a day eventually turns into an endless nightmare. With its invisible tentacles, addiction entraps an alcoholic’s life, forever changing their brain chemistry, health, appearance, career, relationships with loved ones, and even their relationship with themselves. It is possible to break free from the trap by recognizing that alcoholism is a disease whose treatment begins with addressing internal issues. Addiction can be a long-term affair, but it is never too late to end it.
Do you want to escape from the alcohol trap?
THIS BOOK IS BOTH A PERSONAL ADDICTION ACCOUNT AND A STUDY OF THE PSYCHOLOGICAL SIDE OF ALCOHOLISM FROM THE PERSPECTIVE OF A PROFESSIONAL.
Tatiana Fisher is a recovering alcoholic, clinical psychologist, body-oriented therapist, alcoholism psychotherapist, author, and seminar facilitator. She has volunteered and co-facilitated groups at the “House of Hope on a Hill” rehabilitation center for many years. She has been a guest lecturer on the topic of working with addicts at World of Psychology, an online school for psychologists. At the Institute of Clinical Psychology and Therapy, she defended her thesis on “Psychotherapy of Alcoholism. Clinical and Diagnostic” in 2020. The author is a blogger, and mother of three children.
Each chapter of the book begins with a narrative (a meaningful episode involving the protagonist) and then moves on to an explanation from a specialist’s point of view about what is happening to her, the psychological aspects of the illness, and so on.
YOU WILL LEARN:
What is the psychological definition of addiction?
How does alcoholism affect more than one person?
How does a codependent partner experience feelings of strength and guilt?
Why do most solutions fail, and people relapse into their addiction?
Addiction symptoms, stages, and crisis points;
How to navigate relationships within an addict’s family and the codependency trap;
How to conquer the difficulties of returning to oneself and the paths to recovery;
What should you do if a relative or close friend is suffering from alcoholism;
Where to begin and how to rehab.
The book covers everything about alcohol addiction treatments, including the relationships within an addict’s family and the trap of co-dependency, Alcoholics Anonymous, help from psychologists and medical professionals, and the rehabilitation process.
Even if you believe, at first glance, that the problem of addiction doesn’t touch you, it is a safe bet that this is not the case. If you have never been in a relationship with an alcoholic and were fortunate enough to grow up in a non-alcoholic family, some of your grandparents, uncles, or aunts were most likely addicted. Oh, and by the way, what is your own relationship to alcohol? To work? Food? Sex? Gambling? The Internet? What are you unable to control?
We all have a highly addictive, passionate, uncontrollable part of ourselves. We’ve all experienced times of inner turmoil, despair, and frustration. This book will appeal not only to those who are directly affected by the issue of alcohol addiction and need to understand how it works and what kind of help an alcoholic requires, but also to anyone who is in a crisis, wants to better understand themselves, and is looking for answers to big questions.
“This book answers questions about the structure of addiction (important information for both addicts and codependents) and offers suggestions for how to help an addict. At the same time, the reader embarks on their own soul journey alongside the main character,” writes Tatiana Fisher.

“As a psychologist, I’ve noticed that over the last eight years, societal awareness of the issue has grown, and people are becoming increasingly interested in figuring out what’s wrong with themselves, their relatives, parents, or children.
I believe we are living in an amazing time when people are increasingly asking, “Who am I?” and are no longer content to accept dogmas and rules, but are desperately seeking their own answers, sometimes by learning from the experiences of others and applying them to themselves.
This is why I find the book relevant in multiple ways. It answers questions about the structure of addiction (important information for both addicts and codependents) and offers suggestions for how to help an addict. At the same time, the reader embarks on their own soul journey alongside the main character,” writes Tatiana Fisher.
