Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I’m a mom and a long time book lover. I live in the mid-west in a small town with big dreams to move west (I can’t do the cold winters!).
I’m a photographer, which has always been my other ultimate dream as I was growing up. I also design beautiful custom nail polish strips for an amazing group of customers I couldn’t be more grateful for.
I love to read, draw and listen to music in my downtime, not that there’s a lot of that in adulthood.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Crossed is my latest book, and also my debut book, the first in a series of its name.
This book came to me while I was editing wedding photos and listening to The Neighbourhood. Stargazing came on and this story started forming in my head. I had to put away my photos and write it down. From there it just built itself over the next year.
What are you working on now?
Currently I’m working on the follow up book to Crossed, still part of Bryant and Clary’s story.
I’m also working on another story outside of the Crossed series, but still sort of tied in. In book two, Clary reads part of a book to Bryant. As I was doing a proofread I thought, “What if this was its own thing?” Like what if readers were able to get into Clary’s bookshelf and see what she’s reading? So I’m starting that.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
I’m still figuring that out. I post on Instagram and Facebook about what’s happening. I’ll get there.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Don’t worry about options! There are so many options out there for everything, just take your time to weed through things and find what fits best for you. Self-publishing is scary, but it doesn’t have to be.
What are you reading now?
I’m currently reading House of Lycan by Lyra Forger as well as the Crescent City series by Sarah J Maas.
What’s next for you as a writer?
Once I finish book two in Crossed and the first sub-series book, I’ll be working on book 3 in Crossed, which will tell Anna and Tawney’s story. I’m also working on a fantasy series about witches. We’ll see where things go after that.
What is your favorite book of all time?
That’s so hard!
I would probably say A Sweet Far Thing, Queen of the Damned, or White Oleander. But there are so many amazing newer series, like ACOTAR and TOG that have just really resonated with me that I love for so many reasons.
