Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
Well, first of all it's a pleasure to meet you all! My name is Sara Frost and I'm a native Floridian.
As an author, I've always endeavored to draw inspiration from the multitude of experiences I've had, the people I've met, and the books I've read. My stories, just like my life, are imbued with both joy and hardship, with elements of humor and depth.
To date, I've penned one novella, "Suburban Fire," and a short story, "Is It Good for You?". "Suburban Fire" is an exploration of the complex emotions we endure in our daily lives, capturing the raw intensity that can be found even in the most ordinary of suburban lives. On the other hand, "Is It Good for You?" is a delightful and raucous comedy that embraces the funnier side of intimacy, reminding us all to laugh at the unexpected and hilarious moments that life often throws our way.
I'm currently in the process of writing a sequel to my novella, "Suburban Seduction," which promises to weave a tale of passion and intrigue set against the backdrop of suburbia. It's been a delightful challenge, and I can't wait to share it with you all!
When I'm not deeply engrossed in the world of my characters, you can often find me practicing yoga — a habit I picked up from Angela, one of my most memorable characters.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
That would be "Is It Good for You?" It's a short story that came about after talking with a friend who had a, shall we say, less than wonderful dating experience.
It's not EXACTLY based on a true story, but there are real-life elements that came from my friend's experience.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I don't think so. I just write when I feel the urge. A lot of the time I am on the go, so I kind of have to make myself schedule time to sit down and get the work done.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Oh, sheesh. Honestly, you know, of course I've read and seen 50 Shades of Gray by E. L. James, the Sleeping Beauty series by A.N. Roquelaure and a heck of a lot more.
But in terms of style, I really have been more influenced by authors like Danielle Steel.
What are you working on now?
Right now, I'm trying to finish up the sequel to "Suburban Fire," which I'm calling "Suburban Seduction."
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Honestly, Pretty-Hot.com is the first website I've ever used to promote an ebook. And of course, I am brand new as an author so I don't have a lot of experience either writing or promoting my books.
That's changing!
Do you have any advice for new authors?
Well, as a new author myself I'd say you need the raw kernel of an idea, the will to flesh it out, and then the determination to sit down and write the thing. You can get lost in planning for ages – and that's a mistake. A finished "good enough" story is way better in my view than the world's greatest tome – that never gets finished and published anywhere.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Never give up.
(That sounds cheesy, but I think today's society is one where people are faced with a challenge and at the first or second obstacle, they just lay down, give up, and act like they're ready to die.)
If you don't ever give up, though, it might take you a hundred years to reach your goal – but eventually you'll get there.
What are you reading now?
This is going to sound weird because it has nothing to do with Romance or Erotica, but I'm reading "Zero to One" by Peter Thiel. It's a book all about startups and entrepreneurship, which I vibe with.
What’s next for you as a writer?
Well, I want to finish my Suburban series, which I see as a trilogy. And, Periodically, I'm going to keep on putting out spicy, comedic short stories featuring my character, Angela.
After the Suburban series, though, I have a couple more trilogies planned and I'm excited about getting to those.
What is your favorite book of all time?
I'm not actually sure I have a favorite. A lot of what I read has to do with my interests – which seem to dovetail around sex and sensuality, humor, fixing marriages and relationships, yoga and physical fitness, and like I noted above, entrepreneurship.
If I HAVE to pick a favorite, it would probably be almost anything by Danielle Steel
