Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I was into teaching for a while but later chose to be a homemaker. I would call myself an
‘Accidental Author’. But once I started writing, there was no looking back. I have written about 14 books so far. All are self-published on Amazon Kindle, and a few have paperback versions as well.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest books are ‘Timeless Thoughts’, a collection of 30 poems, and ‘A Voyage Called Life’, a collection of 8 short stories.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I love listening to music as I key in my thoughts.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
P.G. Wodehouse’s wit, subtle humour, characterisation, witty dialogues, and Agatha Christi and James Hadley Chase’s suspense thrillers have significantly impacted my storytelling technique.
What are you working on now?
I am editing a novella I wrote for a contest a year ago. A memoir titled Amma’s Kitchen is in the pipeline.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
Social Media posts, creating appealing and innovative trailers, and book promotion websites
Do you have any advice for new authors?
In this era of AI and ChatGPT, originality and creativity are at stake (no offence meant). So, I would advise the new generation of writers to ‘think’, be imaginative, and be innovative in their writing ventures.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
If you don’t talk about your book, who will? Why would anyone want to read your book when hundreds are published on Amazon Kindle? Let the world know you exist and that you write books. (My mentor and guide’s advice)
What are you reading now?
‘The Labyrinth of Silence’ by Dr. Aparna Salvi Nagda.
What’s next for you as a writer?
I haven’t focused on exploring the market for my published books or on monetary gains as an author until now. I should set goals and reach out to more extensive audiences/ readers.
What is your favorite book of all time?
Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand has left an everlasting impression on me for two reasons: the smooth flow of the story, which runs beyond 1,000 pages and holds the readers’ interest and curiosity until the last word, and the unique philosophy of Objectivism, which is persuasive.
