About Stories Written Under Dim Lights

A collection of enjoyable and three beautifully written short stories by the same author about familial, values, conflicts and relationships in southeastern Nigeria. The stories which touches behaviours of negligent parents and insubordination of their children, make a fine leisure read. Each story has its unique blend of story line and is targeted at three strata of African family life. Parenthood, Children’s obedience, and Societal values.

You Are Not A Boy shades light on the struggles of girl children in Nigerian homes. Amazing Ada finds the inner strength and self confidence to stand for her little sister against the subtle discrimination that little girls faces in their patriarchal society. This ultimately pits Ada against her father, who is shocked to learn that her daughter has been seeing a neighbour he has already prohibited her from visiting, a neighbour shunned by the people for her unique ways to life.

Tales Of Mgbeke Mkpologwu is a story of strife created by partly by a farm animal with legendary moniker and partly by a Mama Obiora’s hate and envy for another young woman has everything she did not, including sharing equal powers with her husband.

In When Father Fell, the author’s favourite, Ileka is strong-willed man who is failing to control the growing rebellion in his family lead by his daughter, who has stopped to respect him. In his futile attempt to reassert his authority, tragedy strikes and Ileka becomes incapacitated, affording him enough time to recollect about the bonds of a united family.
