About The Bloody Awakening of the Anaxagorum by John Y. Graham
As imaginative as “The Lord of the Rings,” as grittily realistic as “Game of Thrones,” as full of traps and monsters as Dungeons & Dragons, “The Bloody Awakening of the Anaxagorum” takes you to a world on the brink of discovering magic. Only Northem stands as a beacon of light and reason against the darkness being spread by superstitious zealots. They burn books. They burn people. They’ll burn anything their god doesn’t approve of. When a party of Northem knights discovers an ancient book of arcane knowledge, an expedition is sent to the ancient ruins of Dunkelgrau to learn its purpose. Will they be able to harness its secrets, or will the zealots learn them first and plunge the world into utter darkness?

I wrote my first novel, when I was thirteen. In pencil. It told a burly tale of America fighting off a Soviet invasion with the help of a group of teenagers (years before Red Dawn, I might add). It was every bit as bad as you’d expect it to be. But, it was a start.
Today, I’m deep into my dream job of writing novels. I’ve written historical fiction, thrillers, speculative/sci-fi, and humor. The market wants me to settle on a genre, but it’s a tough call. I like following a good story idea, no matter from whence it came or wherest it goes. My readers seem to like what I’ve written, and that’s all I care about.
So, what’s the deal with Writer Viking? That’s my professional brand, mainly for advertising projects. I’ve been an advertising copywriter, brand guy, and director of things on and off camera. Nothing teaches a writer discipline like ad deadlines and brutal clients. One client had his daughter who was “good in English” at 14 critique my writing. Lemme tell ya, that’s tough. Over 30 years in that hell has made me merciless, John the Merciless, in fact.
