About The Bright Report (Volume 1) by Marcel M du Plessis:
The Bright Report is a collection of themed short stories that all take place in the same ‘semi-fictional’ world. Think a modern take on The Pickwick Papers with a magical realism twist. Here’s a brief summary of the six short stories:
• Art: A new word has taken the art world by storm, but what does it mean?
• Literature: A snobbish critic finds himself stuck in a Lovecraftian nightmare.
• Sport: The monstrous snail race heats up as competitors take on the vertical ascent.
• Travel: A Victorian(-ish) explorer lands on an island of technologically advanced tribespeople who worship “wife-eye”
• Motor: Reviewing the most forgettable car…in the world…and forgetting where we parked it.
• Entertainment: A new board game for three or more players (extra players included in the box).
There’s an element of fantasy or magical realism in each of them.
