About The Bug That Prayed and Preyed

The Bug Who Prayed and Preyed is a fun and quirky adventure that will have young readers laughing and cringing at the same time!

Sam loves his fifth-grade class terrarium, where he watches turtles, lizards, and snails. But everything changes when a strange new creature is added: a praying mantis. With its creepy red eyes and jagged arms, this insect seems like a mysterious force of nature. As Sam watches the mantis in awe, he wonders if it could take over the terrarium and become the “Lord of Little Earth!”

But things take an unexpected turn when the mantis gives birth to hundreds of tiny, creepy baby mantises that look just like… shredded wheat! Sam’s favorite cereal. What happens next is both hilarious and gross, as Sam struggles to cope with the sight of his beloved breakfast food turned into a nightmare. Will Sam ever be able to eat shredded wheat again?
Perfect for young readers who enjoy a mix of humor, suspense, and a bit of creepy-crawly fun, this story is sure to captivate and entertain younger kids. A delightful tale based on the author’s own childhood experience.
