Author Bio:
My name is Jonas Power and I am 32 years old. I live with my wife, Alice, and son, Ronald, in the city of Norfolk. I was born and raised in Richmond, Virginia. I come from a large family that included my parents, grandmother, two younger twin brothers, an elder sister, and me. We all lived together in a large house on the outskirts of the city. My father was engaged in trade; my mom and grandmother took care of the house and raised me and my brothers and sister. As a child, I was shy and a loner. I didn’t have friends, so I spent a lot of time at home by myself or helping my mother with the housework. I didn’t like school; studying was hard for me and I often ran away from school, pretended to be sick, or came up with some other excuse to get out of studying and doing homework. But I always loved to cook. From early childhood, I often helped my mother and grandmother in the kitchen, preparing various dishes. Watching the cooking process truly inspired me; I liked the aromas and, of course, the taste of the food. My mother and grandmother were great cooks. They created culinary masterpieces in the kitchen and the most delicious dishes were always presented at our table. I watched the cooking process, memorized the nuances, and learned from them. When I got older, I began trying to cook on my own and it worked out well enough! Most importantly, I took incredible pleasure in the cooking process itself. So it wasn’t surprising that when I finished school I decided to go to culinary school in order to become a chef and, hopefully, open my own restaurant one day. In my last year of culinary school, I participated in a master class competition for most original dish decoration and took first place! After winning the competition, I was invited to work at an excellent Italian restaurant, where I now work as an assistant chef. Recently, I started writing cookbooks – one of which you’re now holding in your hands. My creative work inspires me and I plan to continue developing and improving my skills in the art of cooking and writing new cookbooks.
