About The Reign of Victoria; or, the Year That Everything Changed
The year is 1900. It’s the start of an uncertain century, and the Blaylock family of Cape May has a new maid in the household, Victoria. Young, energetic, and fresh from the Our Lady of Second Chances Foundling Hospital where she’s lived her entire life, Victoria is eager for a place to call home—and to remain employed for longer than six months.
Maggie Blaylock, twenty-four and her parent’s only child, is a college graduate with no prospects and a lot of time to mope about it. Her mother is roping her into a courtship with an old childhood friend, she’s growing apart from her best friend, and she has a horrible feeling that her estranged, opinionated grandmother would like to reestablish herself in the family.
As Maggie and Victoria develop camaraderie through their joys and sorrows, they must learn—with a little humor and a lot of love—that although change is inevitable, it doesn’t always have to be a bad thing.
