Arianna Eastland is a native New Englander whose Abenaki heritage inspired her to research the Native-American culture and history in her area and write her first historical-romance novel, TOO FAR TO WHISPER, set in 17th-Century New Hampshire.
Years of research went into the writing of the novel and its two sequels. What took the longest, according to the author, was looking up word origins so the characters in the 17th century wouldn’t be speaking in any modern terms. She did, however, confess to taking a bit of creative liberty and eliminating the “thees” and “thous,” which she felt might be too distracting.
