Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
My name is Vanessa Gowora and I’m fiction and non-fiction author. I started writing books when I was thirteen, they were mostly short stories about kids with powers since then my story telling skills have improved. I have written three books that I am planning on publishing this year.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
Project Domino Effect.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
No not, really. I think every author has this thing they do that many call it unusual. The craziest thing I do is put on my headphones, make sure the music is the loudest and nod my head to the beat at times. I thought it was normal, but two years ago when I was staying with a couple of friends they gave me the weirdest look.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Books are magical. I loved reading C.S Lewis, J. R Tolkein and Richard North Patterson as a kid. The authors who inspire me are Chandler Bolt, Veronica Roth, Cassandra Clare and Gary Vaynerchuk. I would love to have the success that they have with their books one day.
What are you working on now?
I’m bit ambigious. Tend to go overboard at times when it comes to writing. At the moment, I’m working on a fantasy book and on a personal development book on how to overcome doubt, insecurities and fear.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
That’s difficult. I would have to get back to you after lauch week. Since I’m starting out saying which method is best would be shooting myself in the foot and I’m not there yet.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
When I was a kid many thought I couldn’t become a writer. My advice to new authors is to believe in your dream, if you hold tight on to it and never surrender it then no matter what anyone says you will know you are a writer. Being a writer is about being courageous enough to never give up and keep going after your dream.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
Good things take time to happen
What are you reading now?
I’m reading Real Artists Don’t Starve by Jeff Goins
What’s next for you as a writer?
I plan on releasing another self-help book this year and my young adult sci-fi book. That’s the first of a series. As I go along, I plan on developing my business around my non-fiction books which will include courses and training.
What is your favorite book of all time?
That’s a hard question. The book that made me fall in love with words in general was As the Crow Flies by Jeffrey Archer.
