Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written.
I am a British-born erotica author, currently living in the south of Spain. The Erotic Notebooks is the first book I have published. However, it is not the first I have written. I am hoping to polish and publish at least one more in the course of this year, with others to follow.
What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it?
My latest book is titled “The Erotic Notebooks.” It was originally written as a form of erotic confession to a former lover; a way of giving an insight into my desires and experiences and fantasies indirectly, through story, rather than face to face.
Do you have any unusual writing habits?
I write almost entirely in public places; in cafés and bars, on park benches, or on the beach. There is something thrilling about writing erotica, whilst all around you people go about their normal lives.
What authors, or books have influenced you?
Nin, certainly, but also Emmanuelle Arsan, Catherine Millett, Henry Miller, and Marcel Proust.
What are you working on now?
At the moment I am polishing a semi-autobiographical erotic novel about a young woman who enrols in an art school in Spain, only to find herself in the midst of love-triangle involving herself, the handsome, libertine artist who is tutoring her, and the fiery young woman in whose house she rents a room.
What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books?
For me, I am so new to this, I have no idea. I am currently experimenting.
Do you have any advice for new authors?
I advice all authors to enjoy writing, to enjoy the stories they tell, and to write what they want to read. Writing, in my opinion, should always be about pleasure – never about toil or stress.
What is the best advice you have ever heard?
We regret most, not those things we did, but those we failed to do.
What are you reading now?
Bonjour Tristesse, by Françoise Sagan.
What’s next for you as a writer?
To continue experimenting, and taking pleasure from what I write, and to see what stories come to me.
What is your favorite book of all time?
Anna Karenina, by Leo Tolstoy. I love the characters and the romance and the decadence and the wildness of the story.
